ColourPop x Hello Kitty Collection Review, Swatches & Launch Party

by - November 10, 2016

I love Hello Kitty so of course when I heard about this collection I freaked especially being that it with was with ColourPop, a super affordable and quality brand. This of course meant I would be purchasing a good amount from this collection since I wouldn't be breaking the bank to do so. I even had the opportunity to attend ColourPop's NYC launch party for the collection. I was estatic and way too excited to take a picture with Hello Kitty herself. So if you missed my snaps of the entire event then you're in luck. I will include an inside look at the event since I was able to swatch the full collection.
ColourPop x Hello Kitty NYC Launch Party Brunch
All the details were so cute and perfect for a launch party brunch. I love all the flowers and small touches that were added to make this event unique.
Super cute!
I mean aren't these Hello Kitty mini pancakes just the cutest?! My name was even added for just the right personal touch.

Now that we've basked in the super cuteness of that event, let's take a look at swatches because I know that's what you really want to see.
ColourPop x Hello Kitty Lippie Stix swatches on dark skin
There are three lippie stix in this collection and all have a different formula. Date Mate, fuschia pink, is matte x aka an ultra matte that glides on like velvet. Konnichiwa, cool mauve, has a crème finish and is my least favorite of the three. It required more than one swipe and due to the formula wouldn't be as long lasting. Lastly, is Let's Play, metallic red, has a satin luxe formula. This is the first shade with this formula so I can't tell you what the difference is between this and a regular satin shade other than it being semi- metallic. It's a pretty shade but it is very similar to Suprise, an ultra matte shade in this collection, so you probably don't need both.

The glosses are all sheer and very pretty. You really need to see them in person. Some have a flip/duo-chrome so they can look like more than one color depending on the angle and some have more than one shade of glitter as well. Surprise is an Ultra Metallic ruby red, Lock Diary is an Ultra Satin fuschia and lastly, Tiny Chum is an Ultra Satin nude pink. I mentioned Let's Play lippie stix is very close to Surprise but Tiny Chum is also very close to Dopey. I own Dopey but if you don't I recommend picking up Tiny Chum. Ultra Satin is one of my fave formulas that ColourPop offers for lipsticks. Love it!
ColourPop x Hello Kitty Mama's Apple Pie Quad
How cute is this quad?! I love the packaging and it seems so small like 4 Super Shock Shadows couldn't possibly fit inside but they do.

Originally I only really loved Friendship File when I first saw this quad but I have been proven wrong. I love all the shades. Rainbow is a glitter sheer and is so pretty in action. But being sheer means it can also be layered on top of other shades to create a new look. I layered it here on it's own so you an get a better sense of the color. Friendship File is a peachy metallic with pink an silver glitter. Again, you need to see it in motion to fully understand it's beauty. School Bus is a gorgeous navy in a pearlized finish. But the real gem is Small Gift, a pearlized peachy pink, which can double as a blush. It's so pretty! I'll definitely be rocking this on my cheeks.

ColourPop x Hello Kitty School Is Fun & Coin Purse Super Shock Cheeks swatches on dark skin
These are the Super Shock Cheek highlighter and blush that are available individually. School Is Fun is a duochrome gold that is very reminiscent of Nars Albatross. A must have! Coin Purse is a matte rosy pink. It's nice but for my skin tone I wasn't a fan. I found it didn't blend as smoothly as it should.
And finally, the Hello Pretty Face Kit ($42). It's such a beauty. This was the main item I just had to have from the collection. Definitely will be holding on to the packaging.

It features 3 Super Shock Shadows (Bento Box, Sticker Sheet and Juicy Apple), 2 Super Shock Cheeks (Fun With Friends and Yummy Cookies), 1 Ultra Glossy Lip (KT) and 1 Ultra matte Lip (Ribbon).
I was worried about the special packaging thinking the design would easily rib off like the usual lettering on ColourPop products. But I am so happy to see that the bows are etched in on the caps of the liquid lip products so no need to worry. As far as the lettering on all the products I'd suggest using clear nail polish to keep your kitty from rubbing off. Trust me it happens easily even to products you've barely used.

You NEED this set. These items are not sold individually and at this time there are no plans to do so. Just do it! Sticker Sheet looks a tad lighter here in the light but it's almost my skin tone so it can be used more as a base shade for me but still I fully recommend this set. And KT may not look like much here but it's so pretty in action. Now I'll let these video swatches do the talking for me.

Shop this limited edition collection online now on the ColourPop website. The individual cheek products (School Is Fun and Coin Purse) as well as the makeup bag are currently sold out but I was informed that they will be restocked.

Happy hunting!
